The SWFHC started in 1953 as the alumni team for the University of Washington (UW). While the UW no longer has field hockey available, the SWFHC has kept going through thick and thin and currently has around 100 players/former players on its email list.
As a club we have travelled far and wide to tournaments including Argentina, Fiji, Scotland, Germany and Holland, as well as within the United States to California, Atlanta, and Oregon. However, most of our travel these days for tournaments is to Vancouver, BC.
We welcome women of all ages, whether new to the sport or who have experience playing. Our players come from England, Scotland, Germany, and Holland as well as from Canada and the U.S., and in the past we have also had players from South Africa, Ireland, Australia, and Argentina.
We play on field turf so be sure to wear appropriate footwear. Everyone is asked to bring a white and a dark colored T-shirt so that we can easily divide into two teams. Our current practice schedule and location can be found on the Club Calendar page.
